Information Seminar and Evaluation

Past Events

K-9 Country Inn is excited to announce that we in partnership with the Phoenix Canine Initiative. Together we will be offering Pet Partners Therapy Dog Program. Our first Information and evaluation testing will be on:


May 18th 2019 in St. Thomas at Fur and Whiskers Talbot Street St. Thomas, Ontario 

June 9th 2019, Maplelane Farm and Event Centre 6311 12th Line in Alliston, Ontario


Information Seminar Admission: $20.00

Testing: $30.00 

If you would like to participate in both cost is $40.00

All Fees go to support our Therapy Dog Training Program. 


If you think that you and your four-legged companion are good candidates to provide joy and comfort to those in your community, come on out and get tested and join the K-9 Country Inn Therapy Dog Team.

Prospective Dogs


  • Must be a minimum of 1 year or older.  

  • Have lived with the handler home for at least six months

  • House trained

  • Have current vaccinations including rabies

  • Have no history of aggression towards people and animals. 

  • Demonstrate good basic obedience skills, sit, down, stay, come and leave it. 

  • Obedience commands are to be given and maintained without food. 

  • Dogs are to have a good heeling position and walk on a loose leash. 

  • Dogs are to be well groomed, coat and nails maintained. 

  • Acceptable equipment - flat collars, martingale collars with no chain, harnesses, halti's or gentle leaders.  Leashes can be a maximum of 6ft in length.  


Prospective Handlers


  • Must be a minimum of 18 Years or older.  (Children age 10 or older are allowed to participate with an approved team with parents consent in writing)

  • Handlers must agree to a screening process (Police records check)

  • Handlers must show good interactions with their dog, instructing, cueing and rewarding as necessary.

  • Recognized if their dog is stressed, nervous, anxious or concerned

  • Be able to have a casual conversation with those people they meet during the visit.

  • Be able to guide the dog interactions with others in a professional manner.

  • Wear professional attire for visits.

K-9 Country Inn is providing public access training and obedience training if you think you need some assistance before participating in the test. Please contact us for more information regarding classes times and dates.  This is a refresher class for dogs who have already had obedience training. Classes run from 1:15  to  1.5 hours in length in 6-week intervals. Cost is $240.00 + HST per class.  


If you would only like to participate in public access training Dogs will need to have a temperament and obedience assessment before participating in the cost for an evaluation is $25.00 + hst. Public outing with a service dog handler is $45.00 per class.  These outings are booked on a individual basis.
